  • You are right about ethanol based fuel, We have in Australia E 10 fuel/ petrol[ or in the U S Gas ] and yes if you store for a while it seems to form a "gum".I will not buy E 10 fuel, it is crap. The best way I can describe our E 10 fuel is cheap and nasty!

  • I'm not a fan of using corn to make ethanol. I'm glad it gives the farmers another outlet to sell their corn however there are better ways of producing ethanol that would still provide farmers with an income stream and would be better for the environment.

Parent of TwinsParent of Twins19 days ago
  • If you are going to let an engine sit for a while run it out of gas and that will prevent issues with the ethanol gas clogging the carb. You should always do the same thing with any 2 stroke engines as well. Tons of weed eaters get trashed or end up in the shop from not following this really simple tip.

  • i know those days....on my familoes farm one day we were trying to unload beans oit of the bin....the electric auger broke so we grabbed the gas one...it started at the shop but wud not at the bins...so we grabbed one of the pto augers that we use to fill the bins...was going good for a bit... then a bearing went out..switcjed to another auger and then the tractor broke down...we called it a day and started fresh the next day...fixed all the augers and the tractor and started unloading the bin the next day after..... everything went good got all the beans sold no more problems

  • I too am another one that stopped having carb issues on small engines once I started using Seafoam. I run it in all my small engines all year round. Some engines that were only used once a season I would have to clean the carb each year. Last time I had to clean was 2012 when I started Seafoam.

    75haz75haz19 days ago
  • Have you thoughts of using Aspen fuel when storing your smaller engines? No leftover residue from the fuel and cleans when being used. Has a 2 year shelf life in the machine and 5 years inside the unopened bottle. Slightly pricier than pump gas but worth it in time not spent cleaning carburetors. Also made in 50:1 mix, 92 octane premium gas, as well as diesel. Burns way cleaner as well, fumes are no where near as bad. I work with small and large engines from two stroke to diesel and we use Aspen for everything in between give them a look see www.aspenfuels.com

  • See, thats what cracks me up with you guys. you are the only farmers that i'v seen do the job the proper way each time. Engine stop working? Bring it back to the shop for a carb rebuild. My dumb ass tends to poor a half a bottle of Heat into the can, then flood it with break cleaner until you run the new gas through the carb. If that fails, get it running with break clean, then rev it and jam your hand on the intake. sucks all the shit through.

    GyrasGyras20 days ago
  • Get you a small can of that engineered fuel from home depot and run that auger out of fuel and put a little of that engineered fuel in the tank. For some reason it doesn't mess up the carb or gum up.

  • Oh also - why do people get upset when you bring up ethanol? I mean its a known fact its terrible for all engine gaskets, seals, fuel line etc.... ethanol free gas is the way too go, sadly all the small mom and pop stations that would make it a point to stock have closed up, at least in my part of the country.

    Daniel PooreDaniel Poore20 days ago
    • Interesting Robert, I never thought about it from that aspect. From a scientific aspect I know it's, added to alot of bulk gas as well due to the reaction between ethanol and water. (Makes storing gasoline easier when it's moving between trucks and sitting in the averager 8,000 gallon gas station ground tank. Thanks for the insight!

      Daniel PooreDaniel Poore20 days ago
    • It's about the subsidy for the alcohol. Make's it cheaper than non eth gas.

  • Great video. Hey Welkers - I was just over catching up on the Millennial Farmer before I came back here to my my Original and first love for Farm Tubers ( The Welkers of course ) we gotta figure out a new strategy for ya'll. Zach is up to nearly 700k subs! I love his channel, but how and the hell have we stalled out at 450k ish here.... I just dont get it. I love you guys, your new episodes are appointment television for my son and I. Youre videos are often the most beautifully shot and elegant in the entirety of farmtubing... Look I found you guys originally from my love of Farm Sim. The Big Bud 747 interested me and I thought surely this isnt a real tractor. Must be some modders crazy imagination. After really getting curious I finally googled it. Know what the first thing I found was? Welkers visit the 747 to see it get LSW1400s! I loved it. I wondered who these Welker guys were and decided to check ya out. Immediately became a sub. Youre content is pure, and is so well put together. ( I had NO clue farmtubers were a thing ) Slowly as I decided to watch all your content from beginning of your channel to the end You showed other channels, and I latched onto those as well and then went searching for more on my own. ( Oh great now I have like 10+ farm shows to keep up with every week ) anyways my point is Ive spread the word to others and I try to help boost your subscribership. Zach has a GREAT channel but this channel is just as good. Maybe better so how can us viewers help amplify Welker Farms Digital presence. Please dont take offense to this but this channel is nothing close to its potential ( and i dont see anything you guys could even change to improve it really ) I know you are farmers first. USworlds isnt paying the equipment bills and helping you get more land... but still you have a huge coalition of fans and super fans.... surely together we can get you knocking on 1Million subs. Haha anyways sorry for the rant guys, Hello from Westminster, MD and ya'll take care of each other out there!

    • Daniel, thank you for those very kind words. Sometimes we wonder if the channel gets old after awhile. Not sure why we don't grow at a faster pace but sometimes USworlds "pushes" channels to newer audiences, which can make a difference. We do appreciate our many followers and comments like yours help us continue. We were so looking forward to meeting everyone again in Feb at the National Farm Machinery Show but it go cancelled this coming year. Thank you and blessings to you and your son. If you email me your address to welkerfarms@gmail I would like to send him a little something.

  • The Stihl chain saw guy in town told us years ago to never use anything but premium gas in anything other than cars and trucks. The ethanol eats the hoses from the inside and can crystallize in the aluminum. Have found that if you pour some trans fluid in the tank and run before storage too it helps

  • What a treat! I have been suffering from a serious case of Bob and Coby/Koby detachment syndrome as of late and you guys came through!!! Thank you too for showing the real world days that all farm folks (regardless of acreage) face; the days when the thing you need is broken, the part you need is "no longer in our system" so the part you get is wrong so you re-work the rest of the device which decides to fail-one part at a time but ONLY after the last part is repaired and working and the supply house is now closed. The Bible speaks about the patience of Jobe which has always made me wonder if he was a farmer too. For as calm and patient as you guys are in the face of the aggravations you face from most corners of your life (weather, pests, commodity prices, daily dangers and work hours that are illegal unless you are a farmer) I have come to see you folks as faith in action as you do your best while laying the rest for the Master to bear. You have my admiration.
